Athena Farrokhzad
Iranian-Swedish poet, playwright, translator and literary critic. In 2013, Farrokhzad published a collection of poems entitled Vitsvit (White Cycle, transl. Justyna Czechowska, 2018). White Cycle has been adapted twice for the stage: directed by Farnaz Arbabi for Unga Klara, and directed by Saga Gärde for the Swedish Radio Theatre. By 2018, the collection had been translated into twelve languages. In the same year, Farrokhzad made her debut as a playwright – she is the author of dramas for children and young people, including: “Torget” (“Market Square”, 2018, Unga Klara), “Moral enligt Medea” (“Morality According to Medea”, 2019, Oslo Nationatheatret) and “Framtidsspelen” (“Future Games”, 2022, Ung Scen Norr/Norrbottensteatern). Since 2022, Farrokhzad has been co-creating, together with Ida Linda, the program of the international literary scene at Stockholm’s Kulturhuset.
