Description
A performance by the Halina and Jan Machulski Acting School, inspired by the play “Girls Will Make You Blush” by Åsa Lindholm, translated by Dominika Górecka.
Duration: 1 h 30 min
“Once upon a time
At the beginning of this her-story
There was only my body
And me
And that’s how it all started.”
Five girls go to a theatre workshop. There, they get the chance to reflect on their relationships with their own bodies, with others, and test how true their friendship is.
The text by Swedish playwright Åsa Lindholm was created based on drama workshops with teenage girls. No taboos.
“And how do you refer to yours?
Vagina? Weird…
Shell? Gross, awful…
Vulva? Even worse…
How much blood flows during menstruation?
A few glasses?
Or just a few drops?”
Does this amuse you? Disgust you? Outrage you? Embarrass you? Scare you? Don’t worry—it’s just a regular conversation between fourteen-year-olds.
Dear Viewer, let’s talk about the body. Casually. Without placing it into any specific discourse or trend. This will not be another manifesto!
