Description
About growing out of being little girls and growing into ourselves. A play written by the lives of several teenage girls.
Duration: 1 h 30 min
This play has already happened once. In accordance with the principle of experimentation.
This play is happening again. Following the practice of recycling.
This play will happen once more—in the future. Following the principle of the longest suspense.
We first met Stefa, Mimi, Jagoda, Wiktoria, and Pola in 2016. Together, we prepared the performance entitled Girls at Teatr Studio, where we aimed to tell the story of the experience of being a girl and how her body—and symbolic image—functions in culture. The play was performed for two years, during which time the characters began to change. They grew out of their costumes and off the stage. Their maturing also transformed the play. We became interested in how the passage of time can be captured and transformed into a performative form. How do we tell a story where both the climax and the conclusion are still unknown?
What is the experience of time passing? Is time and history always the same thing?
From all these questions came the idea of a series of performances about the lives of the five characters. First: Girls. Then: Women. And after that—maybe Grandmothers.
Besides all of this, we wanted to stay together through the process of growing up, maturing, and aging in a changing political landscape.
Show in Polish with English translation.
