What can we still do with the legacy of white man’s rule? Can we change the course, or is our future already set? Now you can find out.

You are invited to the ceremonial reading of the will. The time of the white man is over. The moment has come to distribute his wealth and privileges among the heirs. Who will have the most say now? Who will no longer be interrupted? Whose musical tastes will enter the canon? And who will get the key to the minibar?

The Sunset Suite is a participatory performance that explores the relationship between guilt and privilege. The creators examine what the redistribution of the white man’s wealth and privileges might look like after his dominance has ended. Drawing on John Rawls’ theory of justice, the works of Tennessee
Williams, and Johnny Cash’s final album, The Sunset Suite analyzes concepts of justice and equality, encouraging participants to reflect on their own position within the global power structure. The Sunset Suite prompts contemplation on the complexity of social and historical issues. It is also the second part
of the Poste Restante group’s diptych, the first part being the play “Debt” by Majula Drammeh.

The Sunset Suite also marks the return of the artistic collective Poste Restante to Warsaw after fourteen years. In 2010, the collective created a performance inspired by the life of Fryderyk Chopin, “Azyl Fryderyk,” in the spaces of Teatr Dramatyczny.

During the 2.5-hour visit, participants were subjected to a series of individual and group actions, bringing them closer to the essence of mourning and melancholy.
